BDG Studio, on behalf of E5 Commercial (Bath Road) Ltd, prepared proposals for the redevelopment of a former equestrian centre on Bath Road, Hardwicke, Gloucester, into a high-quality logistics and commercial hub. Situated on a key transport corridor with excellent connections to Gloucester and the wider regional road network, the site was identified as an ideal location for warehousing and distribution. The scheme sought full planning permission for five large-scale units, ranging in size from 43,600 sq ft to 97,350 sq ft, providing a total of 300,500 sq ft of new commercial floorspace.
The design makes efficient use of the site by arranging the units along the northern, southern and western boundaries, creating a clear and accessible central corridor. Existing site constraints, including a Public Right of Way, flood zone areas, and utility infrastructure, were carefully integrated into the layout, while large areas of landscape buffer were retained to soften the site’s visual impact and preserve screening along Bath Road. With provisions for renewable energy such as photovoltaic panels and EV charging points, the scheme demonstrates a sustainable, future-facing approach that will deliver modern commercial space, boost employment, and support economic growth in the Gloucester area.
