The Glassworks project offered an exciting opportunity to transform a former factory building (Station House), most recently used as a place of worship, into high-quality residential apartments. Situated on Crocus Street within the Nottingham Station Conservation Area, the site benefits from excellent transport links, being just a short walk from Nottingham Railway Station and the city centre. The design would preserve the building’s historic character while introducing a new architectural identity, sustainable design features, and a mix of apartment types to suit modern urban living.
At the heart of the scheme is a sensitive refurbishment of the existing structure, complemented by the creation of a communal courtyard garden to bring new life to the site. The design responds thoughtfully to its context—addressing flood risk, improving natural daylight where possible, and enhancing energy efficiency through upgraded windows and building fabric. With its blend of heritage value, central location, and scope for regeneration, The Glassworks represented a unique opportunity to deliver attractive, sustainable homes within a rapidly developing part of Nottingham.
